We are looking for a passionate critical-thinker to join our Innovation Department in the role of Customer Insight Specialist. The members of this department collaborate with cross-functional teams to take products from idea through to launch. Inspiration and validation from real people in the market is an important part of that process—that’s where you come in! Under the guidance of our Manager of Customer Insight and Ideation, the successful candidate will conduct a variety of research and brainstorming activities. The ideal candidate will have a good foundation of knowledge and excellent soft skills, but we don’t expect you to know how to do everything at the start. We’re seeking a new hire who can grow with us, helping us to expand our capacity in this functional area and acting as a champion for customer-centric innovation at IPEX.


  • Work closely with Innovation colleagues, and their cross-functional teams, to identify how research can help their project, recommending the most appropriate methodology
  • Create research plans and assets to support the required research and recruiting efforts; work with Sales or external vendors to secure research participants
  • Conduct various forms of research (e.g. usability/UX, in-depth interviews, field studies, surveys, card sorts, etc.) and compile research data
  • Analyze research data and synthesize meaningful findings, including recommendations for the project team
  • Help to define—and then act as the IPEX point of contact for—research studies conducted by third party suppliers
  • Design and facilitate workshops with internal and/or customer participants (e.g. customer councils, focus groups, ideation sessions, etc.)
  • Become a subject matter expert and champion for research and customer-centric innovation at IPEX

Qualifications & Experience

  • Solid foundation in qualitative research methods; familiarity with quantitative research methods
  • Excellent critical thinking, teamwork and organization skills, and an orientation to actionability
  • Ability to work independently, and in ambiguous situations; willingness stretch and grow beyond your comfort zone
  • Strong French and English communication skills: written, oral, visual
  • Degree in anthropology, cognitive psychology, human factors, or similar
  • Masters degree or 2-3 years relevant work experience
  • Must be able to travel in North America (valid passport and drivers license, 20% travel anticipated
