Our mission

At EnSage, our mission is to significantly improve the quality of life for older adults with combined psychiatric and medical conditions — empowering seniors and their caregivers to maintain control over their day-to-day health for as long as possible.

About EnSage

EnSage provides geriatric psychiatry-led, team-based care and behavioral care management services to seniors — a large, growing, and underserved population.

Today, the standard of care for geriatric psychiatry is not available nationally — drastically driving up costs and leading to poor health outcomes. Geriatric Psychiatric conditions primarily include Alzheimer’s or other dementias, anxiety, depression, and substance use disorders. Through a hybrid virtual and in-person model, EnSage provides easy access to geriatric psychiatry services and a collaborative care team, to effectively assess and care for patients while providing support and guidance to their caregivers.

EnSage identifies the right patients in need of geriatric psychiatry specialty care, personalizes their care through comprehensive intake and triage, implements behavioral care management strategies to support patients and their caregivers' day-to-day needs, and provides comprehensive psychopharmacology management in close coordination with primary care. Each component of this care model is delivered through an interdisciplinary, collaborative care team trained in geriatrics. EnSage’s technology and analytics infrastructure enable ongoing risk analysis, predictive flags, and recommendations based on real-world data used to improve care delivery.

About this role

As EnSage’s first product designer, you’ll play a pivotal role in creating an exceptional user experience for patients, their caregivers, and clinicians while also meeting critical business goals. You’ll shape end-to-end product and experience design across virtual, digital, and in-person mediums — bringing ideas to reality through close collaboration with product, engineering, and clinical stakeholders. This position reports to the Chief Experience Officer.

  • Design end-to-end user journeys that enable accessible care at scale for seniors
  • Partner with product, engineering, and clinical teams to understand, define and scope the requirements needed to develop intuitive user experiences
  • Work closely with engineering to ensure high-quality implementation and user experience
  • Prototype experiences, from initial storyboards and wireframes to high-fidelity prototypes — enabling our team to build, learn, and iterate quickly and thoughtfully
  • Translate complex concepts and ideas into viable design solutions — bringing along various stakeholders in the process
  • Conduct user research to develop a deep understanding of seniors, caregivers, and clinicians’ needs and day-to-day realities — enabling us to design from a place of empathy, nuance, and care
  • Help create and continually improve foundational design processes and culture at EnSage

The ideal candidate for this position will have:

  • 4+ years of product design experience in a start-up and/or healthcare environment — bonus if you’ve designed for seniors and/or caregivers
  • Experience and comfort leading user research with a variety of stakeholders
  • Excelled at working through complex problems that cut across various mediums — virtual, digital, asynchronous, in-person, etc. — bonus if you have experience with service design
  • A portfolio that showcases foundational product design experience and your ability to move from an ambiguous problem/opportunity to a successful launch
  • Experience bringing along non-product stakeholders into the design process — facilitating effective workshops, brainstorms, and feedback sessions

Additionally, candidates should have:

  • Excellent writing and interpersonal skills
  • Strong interest in advancing product and experience design in healthcare for seniors and caregivers
  • Willingness and ability to inculcate positive values throughout the organization
