IA Collaborative is actively seeking a Research and Design Strategy Director who is well versed in design thinking methodologies and tools, has a vast amount of professional and project experience within the design and innovation space, has managed teams, and is looking to make an impact within a growing innovation firm.
Research and Design Strategy Director Job Responsibilities
Serving as a clients’ strategic partner and guide alongside our account management team by inspiring and shepherding clients through the research, design and experience process, facilitating and leading collaborative planning sessions, regularly scheduled meetings, ideation sessions and presentations.
Leading the research and strategy development process across projects through work with clients and colleagues including analysis of secondary research, identifying key user, business and design trends, and framing opportunities and research plans.
Planning, recruiting and conducting user research, leading and collaborating in the synthesis process to develop key insights, researching summaries, design and business strategies, creative concepts, roadmaps and long term plans.
Managing research and strategy account relationships, including drafting research and strategic components of new business proposals and collaborating with account staff to manage and extend client relationships to garner new business.
Partnering with another Research and Design Strategy Director in mentoring and managing the Research and Design Strategy team.
Demonstrating awareness of the innovation landscape outside IA Collaborative and developing new research methods and offerings to build out innovation capabilities in house.
Performing additional job responsibilities as assigned.
Eight or more years of experience conducting user research, including at least four years of experience leading large-scale projects and programs and two years managing direct reports.
Expert and leader within user driven research practices and broader design thinking methodologies.
Ability to integrate design and strategic business thinking.
Ability to effectively lead across multiple projects and platforms, providing guidance to research, strategy, and design teams as needed.
Demonstrated proficiency and passion for visual design practices such as graphic design, industrial design, interaction design, etc.
Research & Design Strategy portfolio filled with a breadth of impressive work that demonstrates use of design research methodologies, strategic framing of insights and a passion for design minded solutions.
Ability to clearly articulate a personal perspective on the value of design and the role of design and its impact on business.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Strong facilitation skills and presence. Confident and compelling story-teller by nature.
Advanced degree in Design, Design Strategy or related fields preferred.
Experience conducting research internationally preferred.
