PIRE’s Prevention Research Center is hiring a part-time (30% FTE) Research Assistant II (rate range $20-$27) staff member to support multisite Tribal community engagement and data collection activities in coordination with our research team. This work can be done remotely, on site, or hybrid. We are recruiting for and conducting interviews with key leaders in 55 Tribal nations located in all regions of the US. The Research Assistant II will support efforts to obtain Tribal research approvals, and schedule and conduct interviews. The interviews are semi-structured and concern Tribal health policy making, and enforcement strategies related to community alcohol concerns. Knowledge and experience in Tribal health and/or Tribal administration, and training and experience in qualitative data analysis, are highly preferred.

• Associate Degree, two-year University/College equivalent or equivalent experience
• Two or more years of experience in a research environment
• Able to work well in Indigenous communities and apply Indigenous research methods
• Experience recruiting for, conducting, and analyzing qualitative research
• Excellent organizational skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work independently and in collaboration with a team
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Familiarity using Excel or other tracking software

• Contact Tribal authorities from a designated list to obtain research approvals and identify Tribal key leaders for interviews
• Schedule, conduct, and record semi-structured interviews
• Track interview disposition including disbursement of incentives to participants
• Coordinate transcription of audio recorded interviews and review of transcripts
• Coordinate meetings of the project Community Advisory Board
• Contribute to stakeholder reports
• Contribute to preliminary data analyses
