Hello EPIC community! I have exciting news: I'm growing my team. I have five (five!!) open positions:

  • Research Coordinator
  • Research Operations

My team is Customer Insight & Ideation, and covers the domains of Design Research, Ideation, and Strategic Foresight at IPEX. We help IPEX to figure out what to make next and refine the designs of products in development. IPEX makes physical products (pipes and fittings, connecting people with water and energy) and because our product development is on a time-scale of years (rather than following sprints that are measured in weeks or months) this is an opportunity to do more robust research in industry.

Research Operations

We currently have an exciting opportunity as Research Operations. This role is based in our Oakville (2) location, and reports to the Manager of Customer Insight and Ideation.

Job Summary

As Research Operations, you’ll be joining our growing Customer Insight and Ideation (CII) Team which does design research, ideation, and strategic foresight. Your role is all about optimizing people, processes and craft execution, and amplifying the impact of the CII Team’s work at scale. You’ll be at the forefront of customer-centric innovation at IPEX!

We understand that there are many paths to Research Operations—so, tell us your story. For example, you may have been in a researcher role in the past or may only have a general understanding of research from university, college, or online courses. Whatever your journey, if you have a passion for processes and optimization and have educated yourself on the field of Research Operations, our team is excited to meet you.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Codify best practices that the team has developed, facilitating alignment and generating documentation (incl. workflows and reusable templates), share with/train new team members and collaborators as appropriate
  • Implement/maintain a research reports repository (incl. software and processes, in collaboration with IT) that will serve multiple departments, beyond the CII Team
  • Support recruitment of research participants (incl. contacting, screening, booking, managing sample across studies, NDAs, NDA-management) through manual activities or implementing software/process improvements
  • Support the ongoing administration and growth of our company-wide new product idea submission program (incl. process improvements, existing and new software tools, manual tasks)
  • Assess opportunities for efficiencies in the CII Team’s work; recommend and implement new technologies and processes
  • Evaluate all new pieces of software from a functionality meeting team’s requirements standpoint; align with CII Team and then work with IT to implement
  • Educate stakeholders about the value of the CII Team’s work, including writing/publishing communications about our portfolio of projects and success stories

Qualifications & Experience

  • 0-3 years experience in Research Operations, Design Research, Ideation, or Strategic Foresight
  • University or college degree (BA anthropology, sociology, psychology; BEng human factors; UX design diploma; market research diploma; or other relevant degree)
  • University/college or adult learning training in Research Operations
  • General understanding of research projects (design/ux/social/market research)
  • Working knowledge of MS PowerPoint, Word, Excel
  • Nice to haves (let us know if you have them!): relevant certifications, project management expertise, French language skills, Stage-Gate (or other product development process) knowledge, experience in B2B, experience with companies making physical products, general understanding of strategic foresight and/or ideation processes
