The Senior UX Researcher discovers and communicates user needs and behaviors to help our product teams make sustainable, evidence-based decisions. You will plan and conduct user research to surface insights early in product planning. Later, you will help to review early concepts with users to assure we are going the right direction and, finally, support usability testing to confirm we have the details right. You also know and care about usage analytics and other quantitative data we can gather and use to measure success or spot unmet needs.

As the first person dedicated to user research on our UX team, you will drive stronger product strategy and empathy for the user across our teams, perform foundational research to build and maintain user personas, and explore user needs for experimental product areas. You help the broader organization value and seek the insight you can bring. You are a storyteller and work well with UX designers, product managers, and tech leads on user research needs.

In This Role You Will:

  • Always advocate for the user.
  • Collaborate well with UX designers, product managers, and engineers to support research needs for their products or create guides, templates, and plans they can use on their own.
  • Plan and conduct qualitative and quantitative user research for cross-product, new products, or major initiatives.
  • Screen and recruit participants, schedule sessions, capture research, analyze for patterns, and share findings.
  • Surface and share user insights and actionable recommendations in ways that engage and communicate well, like findings that highlight key themes and product opportunities, personas, mental models, experience maps, scenarios, or sketches.
  • Create and share processes and best practices to build our research discipline. Promote research findings and insights across Tackle.
  • Embrace a culture of respect, inclusion, collaboration, and transparency.

You Should Have:

  • 5+ years of experience in user research, including enterprise software. We’re especially interested in people with some background in UX design.
  • Case studies or a portfolio to share that shows your research approach and examples of your work. We cannot consider your application without this.
  • Expertise in a range of methods that cover both qualitative and quantitative needs, such as survey design, interviews, personas, workflow analysis, concept testing, heuristic analysis, usability testing, and user analytics.
  • Familiarity with a range of user research and testing tools or vendors for either moderated or unmoderated sessions
  • Strong ResearchOps mindset: plan and prioritize efforts, manage recruitment and scheduling, look for ways to automate or create templates for reuse.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills. You build strong relationships across the organization.

The Hiring Process:

We have a transparent and streamlined hiring process that can typically be completed in one to two weeks:

  • Phone screen
  • 3 additional video chat interviews (on occasion there may be opportunities for in-person interviews)
  • Some positions may require a take home test (this will be communicated to the candidate)
